Picture of the Attacker
An unknown person with their face covered walked into Casa Ruby’s in the Northwest section of Washington DC at around 2pm on December 12th in a rage of anger and began to attack one of the girls by repeatedly punching her in the face. Trying to get away from the attacker, the girl ran to the bathroom. The attacker was then confronted by multiple people within the facility that began to defend the girl being attacked. But, that was not enough to subdue the attacker as he or she pulled out a can of mace and began to spray it at the people helping.
“Everybody was in shock and had to get out because of the gasses” – Ruby Corado
Founder and Executive Director Ruby Corado told us that it happened fast and that there was not much that could be done. “Everybody was in shock and had to get out because of the gasses” explained Ms. Corado. “This is not the first time this has happened…this has happened four other times and we have never called the cops.” Tired of these senseless assaults to people in her organization, Ms. Corado contacted the Washington DC police and filed a police report on this horrific incident.
“That’s not the way we live, you just gotta pick up the pieces and go” – Ruby Corado
For the protection of the girl that survived the incident, Ms. Corado could not release her name. However, Ms. Corado says that the girl remained in the hospital with breathing problems and skin injuries because of the attack. “Living in fear, that’s what they want” Ms. Corado continued, “That’s not the way we live, you just gotta pick up the pieces and go.”
The attacker was caught on video and the Washington DC police are searching for them. As of press time, police had not contacted us back in response to inquires.
